Consolidating Refugee Resettlement Websites
Welcome! Perhaps this is your first time here at ResettlementSupport.com. If you’ve been one of the regulars, then you realize that my attention to this site has dropped since publishing my refugee resettlement how-to book called 10 Million To 1. Book promotion can certainly chew up a lot of time.
Part of the problem has been the addition of another blog. As an author I was set up with a blog at jeffreykirk.authorsxpress.com. Nothing wrong with that concept. The reality is that my efforts went into that site instead of this one. Yet it’s this one that I really want to continue to add value to the refugee resettlement conversation.
Therefore I am reorganizing this site. (You probably already see some changes compared to your last visit. And more are coming.) The “author” site will continue to exist, but going forward the updates will be here. This will allow me to better integrate the resettlement info and training. After-all, this site is for resettlement support, so it all belongs here.
Once I get this site organized properly then I will again try to add more content to keep it interesting and educational.

I am Ershad Bin Khalaq, a 29-year-old Rohingya refugee youth. I have been seeking protection since birth. From the moment I was born, I faced abuse, neglect, and violence everywhere, including during my school life. In 2017, I was forced to flee my country due to the well-known atrocities committed by the Armed Group. After arriving at the Bangladesh Refugee Camp, I sought protection for my life. However, in 2023, I had to cross the border illegally to India to save my life. Unfortunately, I discovered that the Armed Group’s network was also present there. After noticing this, I returned to Bangladesh, again crossing the border illegally at great risk. Finally, in November 2023, I fled Bangladesh to Indonesia by sea journey because I had learned that the Armed Group planned to murder me. I had reported this to the Bangladesh police, IOM staff, and UNHCR staff, but I never received feedback, and they didn’t process my case. That’s why I had to flee Bangladesh to save my life and the lives of my family. After arriving in Indonesia and staying in Aceh for a year, I decided to move to Pekanbaru in November 2024. However, smugglers are trying to kidnap and kill me because I made a video exposing their fake promises. The local community protected me from harm, but the smugglers are still trying to kill me. I have reported this to the Indonesian police, UNHCR Indonesia, and IOM Indonesia, but I don’t know what the police are doing with my case. Unfortunately, UNHCR and IOM don’t have the funds to assist me. Now, I am trapped with my family, unable to go anywhere. I can’t take my children’s lives at risk anymore. I just want to be safe and secure. As someone who has crossed multiple countries illegally to save my life, I don’t want to do it anymore.
*URGENT APPEAL*
I am appealing for help and protection. I need assistance from UNHCR, IOM, and the Indonesian authorities to ensure my safety and the safety of my family. Please, I need your help.
This article is for worldwide publication to raise awareness about my urgent situation and to appeal for help and protection. I am Ershad Bin Khalaq, and I am counting on your support. Today’s date is Wednesday, July 30, 2025, and I am in Indonesia.
